Emmanuel Adebayor believes Arsenal’s battling draw in Villarreal proves they are “growing as a family”.

The striker equalised just after the hour against Villarreal on Tuesday night to secure a crucial away draw in their Quarter-Final first leg.

Now, on the face of it, the Gunners have the upper hand in the tie despite a slightly off-colour display at El Madrigal Stadium.

The result, in difficult circumstances, was clear evidence of the youthful side’s unity, according to Adebayor.

“The sign of a great side is to get a result when things are not going well for you,” the striker said.

“This proves we're still learning, we're growing up as a team and as a family. We've done that quite well today.

“We had to show that we never give up and I think as long as a team never give up they always have a chance to come back.

“In a difficult moment we still believe that we can do something and we can still come back.“

“In the second half we showed character, personality, and desire. We love playing for this club and that's why we did well today.”
