Arsenal take on Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

In this week's edition of Stats Zone we focus on the increasing influence of Carl Jenkinson at right back.

CHALKBOARD - JENKINSON

In a previous edition of this feature we highlighted the attacking threat of Kieran Gibbs from the left flank. Indeed, that was demonstrated again in the 6-1 win over Southampton as the marauding full back picked up two assists.

But on the other side of the defence, 20-year-old Jenkinson's efficient display also deserves credit.

The defender enjoyed plenty of possession against the Saints and has made the eighth-most passes in the Premier League this season (261) - behind only Mikel Arteta (378) and Santi Cazorla (292) in the Arsenal squad.

In fact, the right back completed more passes than Cazorla during the win at Emirates Stadium (67), quite some feat given the Spaniard's playmaking ability.

Arsenal Analysis

Jenkinson's heatmap below is from the Southampton game, with red areas showing where he was especially active. Jenkinson's 108 touches were more than any other player on the pitch - five more than Arteta.
