Great Britain's men's team pursuit quartet - featuring Geraint Thomas - stormed through qualifying with a world-record time of three minutes and 52.49 seconds to reach Friday's final.
Elsewhere, Ashleigh Ball was on target for the women's hockey team as they brushed aside Belgium 3-0 at the Riverbank Arena. Great Britain's basketball team featuring Luol Deng and Eric Boateng came within touching distance of a surprise win over Spain, but went down 79-78 despite a valiant fightback in the final quarter.
