What do you make of the season so far?
I think we are improving. Compared to the beginning of the season we are a bit sharper, we have some new players and everybody is a bit more focused. We know we need to be successful, and we have to play better than in the past few weeks.
How hard was it for you to watch the 8-2 defeat to Manchester United?
Physcially hard because first of all I had a fever. Mentally as well it was difficult to see the team struggle as it did. To see them concede eight goals was not easy because it is hard playing in those kinds of games. Many players were missing, some were starting for the first time and it was Manchester United. We are bouncing back from that game and are learning a lot from it.
Did you have any words for Carl Jenkinson after the game?
I don't need to say anything to him, he gives his best day by day. The whole team struggled, not only him. It was difficult to defend as a team and Manchester United played really well. They gave a hard job to everyone, not him in particular. I think he is a good player. He is very talented and is is still learning - he is still only 19 years old. He still has time to improve and he will for sure.
Has there been more of en emphasis on keeping things tight since?
No, I think we are just doing the job more professionally. From Robin [van Persie] to the defence, everybody is giving a bit more for his team-mates and we can see the results straight away. We are a bit sharper at the back, we know we have to be a bit more consistent and talk a bit more to each other. It makes things easier.
As one of the more experienced players in the side, has the boss looked to you to help the younger members of the squad more?
We have to be natural leaders. I think if I have something to say I will say it straight away - on the pitch is totally different from normal life. We can argue and say anything on the pitch, but for the team we have to do it if we want to be successful as I say. We just have to communicate a bit more.
What do you make of the new signings so far?
They have done very well until now. They have played well, and look good. Technically they are made for Arsenal, and they will bring a lot to the team. Now it's only the beginning, and I just hope they bring even more than they have done until now t bring us success. They bring experience which we needed, and I hope they can push us to silverware.
Is there a different mood in the team with all the comings and goings? Players like Francis Coquelin have made the step up to the first team...
No, it's always been Arsenal behaviour to bring up players from the youth team. We saw it in the past with Jack Wilshere and Nicklas Bendtner and they always did well for the team. They will give their maximum and show what they can do. They are quality players and we need everyone to be successful. Everyone will play, and everyone has to be ready.
What are your thoughts ahead of the Blackburn game?
It is not an easy place to go. We experienced a tough game on Tuesday at Dortmund - the atmosphere was crazy but we did well and I think we can do it again on Saturday against them. It won't be easy because they will want to earn the maximum amount of points quite quickly like every other team. If we want to be successful we have to win these kinds of games, give our maximum and show we are better than them.
How important is momentum for the team?
I think it will bring confidence to the team first of all. Then after that we have some points to take back from the games we missed. Some teams like Manchester City and United are already on top, so if we want to stick to them we have to win game after game.
