Sagna hails impact of Arsenal substitutes

By Nick Teale

Bacary Sagna has praised the influence of substitutes Abou Diaby and Samir Nasri in Sunday's 2-1 FA Cup victory over West Ham United.

The Gunners were 1-0 down when the pair came on in the 65th minute of the match. Their introduction sparked an Arsenal comeback and Arsène Wenger's side left east London with a place in the Fourth Round of the competition.

Speaking exclusively to Arsenal TV Online after the match, Sagna hailed the impact of the players coming off the bench, pointing out that Sunday wasn't the first time in recent weeks that a substitution has sparked a Gunners victory.

"It's always good when substitutes come on the pitch and can change the game," he said.

"It happened with Cesc Fabregas two weeks ago and now it has happened again. It's good for the team."

In recent years the media has accused some clubs of disrespecting the FA Cup but for Sagna it is still a competition he has eyes on winning.

"[Getting Stoke away in the Fourth Round] is tough but like today we have to go there to win," he said. "We have to think about the Final and about winning this competition."
