April will go down as the month in which Arsenal's hopes of silverware finally ended.
It all started well enough with Nicklas Bendtner's stoppage-time header to beat Wolves but, although the Dane struck first in the Nou Camp, a Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League.
Bendtner was on target again at White Hart Lane but Tottenham emerged victorious from the North London derby. Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre found the net at Wigan but, again, Arsenal tasted defeat. However, third place looks secure after a 0-0 draw with Manchester City.
The contenders for our April Player of the Month award include Sol Campbell, who belied his 35 years to perform heroically in defence. Gael Clichy impressed at left-back while Samir Nasri pulled the strings in midfield. Bendtner scored three goals up front while Robin van Persie was back from his long spell on the sidelines.
