Eight Arsenal players are currently away on loan, five of whom, Armand Traore, James Dunne, Nacer Barazite, Kerrea Gilbert and Abu Ogogo remain on British soil. Eighteen-year-old left-back Traore is the only loanee cutting his teeth in the Premier League while Dunne, Barazite, Gilbert and Ogogo are further down the English system with Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Leicester City and Barnet respectively.

Overseas, the Gunners have players in Italy, Spain and Holland. Philippe Senderos, who has made 115 appearances for the Gunners, will spend the season with Serie A giants AC Milan. Pedro Botelho has joined Spanish Segunda Division outfit UD Salamanca while Vincent van den Berg is out on his second loan spell in as many years, this time with FC Zwolle of the Eerste Divisie in Holland.

Player Profile - Nacer Barazite

Derby County

Nacer Barazite
Derby County 1-2 Crystal Palace
Saturday, December 6.

Barazite was withdrawn after 64 minutes of Derby’s defeat against in-form Crystal Palace. It took just three minutes for the Eagles to open the scoring when Dublin-born centre half Paddy McCarthy strode out of defence and drilled an unstoppable effort into the top corner from 35 yards. Luke Varney then scored his first goal for the Rams after 41 minutes but Shefki Kuqi hit what proved to be the winner just after the hour mark. Barazite was replaced by Robert Hulse moments later as the hosts went in search of an equaliser but to no avail.

Matty Fryatt scored his second hat-trick in two games to cement Leicester’s place at the top of League One. The striker notched his first after six minutes when he cut in off the right flank before curling an effort across ex-Swindon goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall. Fryatt had to wait another 70 minutes grab his second and secured his treble from the spot four minutes later.

Barnet

Abu Ogogo
Luton 3-1 Barnet
Saturday, December 6.

Ogogo endured a roller-coaster afternoon as Barnet were dispatched by bottom-of-the-table Luton. Paul McVeigh and Chris Martin had fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead but Ogogo bagged his first goal in senior football when he slotted a Kenny Gillet cross home. The 19-year-old then picked up his second booking of the match and Luton made their man advantage count when they scored a third two minutes from time.
