'They're very good but not immortal'

Wednesday night brings our seventh meeting with Bayern Munich since February 2013, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes we have cause for optimism.

The England international has starred in previous clashes with the German giants and thinks there are positives to take into this latest battle with the Bundesliga champions.

"I can remember a time... I think we lost to them at the Emirates when I think Wojciech might have got sent off in the first half," Alex told Arsenal Player. "But I remember in the first 20 minutes of that game being really strong and we felt like we were dominating them and we had the crowd behind us and we had that belief and the way we were playing, we were causing them a lot of trouble.

"So we've had good experiences and we’ve had bad experiences and you know, there’s times when we’ve struggled against them and it proves what a great team they are, and there’s times where we’ve turned up and we’ve done really well and it proves they’re not immortal.

"They’re a very good team, but so are we if we play as good as we can on the day. We can cause them enough troubles and go on and win. Obviously we’ve had a few good experiences at the Allianz too. I think we’ve drawn once, a tough game and obviously we’ve won there.

"So we’ve proved enough to ourselves over the years that we’re good enough to come away with the right result, we just need to focus on how we’re going to do it and come up with the plan and then it’s all about delivering on the day and that’s going to be the difference."
