Nacho - We're more sure of ourselves now

Nacho Monreal is understandably happy with how things gone so far as we near the midway point in the Premier League season.

Since losing our opener against Liverpool, we have gone on a 13-game unbeaten streak which has seen us pick up impressive wins against Chelsea and West Ham United as we have risen up to second place in the table.

Next up is Stoke City, and Monreal is expecting us to reproduce the free-flowing football that was on display at London Stadium when we return to action on Saturday.

“We’re on a fantastic run of form at the moment and there’s great confidence running through the team and around the team,” he said.

“Everything is going very positively for us. We’re getting results and we’re winning both home and away. I think it just contributes to a sense of us being on a roll and everything is good around the team.

“Obviously, we’re brimming with confidence at the moment and that is reflected on the pitch. For example, we went to West Ham, a place where we usually find it tough, but we managed to put five past them.

"Then we went to Basel away in the Champions League and scored four. So I think really that contributes to a positive state of mind around the team and that’s been reflected on the pitch.

“In comparison with previous years I do think we are a more mature team, we’re more sure in ourselves and in what the coach is asking us to do. The dressing room is fantastic, we all get on really well and we’re pulling in the same direction.

“In the last few years we’ve won two FA Cups, two Community Shields and that’s great. But of course, the fans want more and it is completely understandable that fans of a big club like Arsenal want to win the Premier League.

“I can’t promise anything because of course there are many teams trying to win the championship as well. But I do believe that if we can continue our good form, if we can maintain a good dynamic around the team, then we will be in with a good chance. So I hope that we can win it and that we can celebrate it with the fans.”
