'We saw the PSG score coming in'

Basel 1-4 Arsenal. Paris Saint-Germain 2-2 Ludogorets.

Few expected it - Arsene Wenger himself gave us a 10 per cent chance of finishing top - but that’s how it panned out on a dramatic night.

Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding did their bit with authoritative displays at centre back, and they spoke after the game:

on outclassing Basel…
Koscielny: We needed to finish the group stage well to have no regrets and and we started the game well by scoring two early goals. After that we kept attacking and we were dangerous on the counter-attack so it was a good win for us to have after our big win on Saturday.

on whether they were aware of PSG half-time score…
Holding: We saw the scores as we were coming in so we knew that, if we kept doing our job, the rest would take care of itself. It turns out it has done so it’s a great night for us.

ADVERT

on the squad depth…
Holding: We’ve got a great squad here with options in every position and all the players who stepped in produced a good performance. All we can do is our best each time we’re picked and I think we’ve done that.

on finishing top of the group…
Koscielny: We had a small chance of finishing first. After PSG we knew we had one more game to finish first and we did the job. It’s important to finish first becaue we have the second game at home.
