'The team is more resilient than before'

Kieran Gibbs has seen a few Champions League campaigns in his time, and he’s thinks we’re well equipped to go deep in the competition - even if we don’t win Group A.

Kieran played the full 90 minutes at left back as PSG hit back to draw 2-2 at the Emirates, and afterwards he spoke to the media:

on the game…
It’s disappointment because it was a good opportunity for us to finish top of the group. We still have a chance but when you go 2-1 up, you want to finish it off in the second half and we haven’t managed to do that. To be honest it’s disappointment that we wanted to perform better. When we get the ball, we can be a lot more dangerous than we showed tonight. But we know we’ve got the quality and we’ll keep going.

on how the game slipped away…
They’ve got a lot of dangerous players up front and it’s not easy to stay too close to them, so they managed to get good possession high up the pitch. That added to the pressure and gave them more chance of creating chances. They didn’t create too many overall but when you give these kind of players chances, you’re going to concede.

on if the chance to finish top has gone…
We don’t look at it like that. We’ll go to Basel to win the game and then we’ll see.

on if Arsenal deserved better…
I think, judging by our performance, a draw was probably what we deserved in the end. They’re a good side and they showed that tonight. We can be better and it’s all about working hard to be better. We’ve got the quality.

on if Arsenal can improve in the knockout stages this season…
The potential is that we’ve gone on a long run now. The team is more resilient than maybe before. We just have to be better all over, we can improve. We can be so dangerous at times - we just have to make sure we’re more dangerous more of the time.
