Wenger - The advice I’d give myself

Arsene Wenger caught a glimpse of himself on Friday morning, and he looked rather different.

The boss watched a video montage of his finest moments as our manager and, right at the start, there he was - Arsene Wenger, on his first day in the job in 1996.

The Frenchman has come a long way since then and celebrates his 20th anniversary in charge this weekend. So what advice would he give himself if he went back to 1996?

“I would say, ‘Don’t imagine all the suffering you will go through! Just focus on the happy moments you could live because you need to be tenacious to spend 20 years at a football club. You need to be brave as well and you need to have quite a good capacity of survival in the difficult moments’.

“The other advice I would give him would be, ‘Stick to what you believe is right and behave inside the club like it’s your own club. With every decision you make, you have to decide whether it’s a decision for the good of the club’.”
