Kieran Gibbs has revealed why former left back Nigel Winterburn is “certainly an Arsenal legend” in his eyes.
The three-time league champion is set to feature against Milan Glorie on Saturday and, although the Gunners’ current No 3 did not witness many of Winterburn’s 584 appearances, he still has plenty of respect for his predecessor.
“I didn’t really get to see too much of him,” Gibbs told Arsenal Player. “I was a bit young during his era, but you hear about players’ qualities and he was obviously a reliable and consistent player for his team at the time.
“I remember a few great goals he scored and he was a big part of the history of the club. He’s certainly an Arsenal legend.”
