Mohamed Elneny says he dreams of becoming “one of the most important players” in the Arsenal squad.

The Egypt international signed the club on January 14 and is in contention to make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round match at home to Burnley.

"I have big dreams to become one of the most important players in the team and want to help the team as much as I can - and win as many titles as possible"

Elneny admits he is still adapting to life in London but says that process has been made easier as a result of the help he has received since joining Arsenal.

“Seriously, I’m not just saying it for the sake of it, everyone has really helped me out, he told the official matchday programme. “Even before I have thought of something they have already done it.

“At Basel it was good too but here it’s totally different. They do everything you need so you can feel at ease and therefore give everything on the pitch. Everyone here dealt with things really professionally.

“I have to work hard to achieve the goals that I’ve set for myself at the club. I need to look around me and learn from the experience that the players around me here have – they are some of the best in the world.

“I also need to get used to my new surroundings. I’m at a big club. And I need to get used to the style of play here.

“Once you start playing you figure out what the other players like and how you can help the team. After that I hope things will be good.

“I haven’t come here just for people to say I’ve signed for Arsenal and that’s it.

“I have big dreams to become one of the most important players in the team and want to help the team as much as I can - and win as many titles as possible.”
