Cech - My personal highlights of 2015

 By Lloyd Webb

Petr Cech says the way his move to Arsenal has worked out has been one of his highlights of 2015.

The legendary goalkeeper ended his 11-year spell with Chelsea and moved to north London in the summer, impressing hugely as the Gunners end the year on top of the Premier League.

Cech is delighted with the way things have panned out for both club and country over the past 12 months.

"I’m a team player and there are team trophies ahead"

“We qualified as a nation for another European Championship,” he told Arsenal Player. “For a small team like the Czech Republic, we haven’t missed it since 1996 - it is an absolutely amazing achievement. We were changing the generations and we still managed to qualify.

“On a personal level, I am happy with the way I kept my level of performance going. The transition from Chelsea to Arsenal, this made me happy as well as I think when you make such an important decision you always wish that it works out for you.

“The way everything happened for me is exactly the way I wished, so I can be happy with this. The fact that I stayed fit and I was able to train and play a part in the little minor things is important because your body is the working tool and you need to be fit to play the best way.

“My personal [goal for next year] is the same as the team’s. I’m a team player and there are team trophies ahead. Winning the league plus another competition - it could be the FA Cup or the Champions League, whatever - that would be a brilliant year for us. Hopefully we can achieve that in 2016.”
