October 30, 2012: Reading 5-7 Arsenal

On October 30, 2012 Arsenal came from four goals behind to beat Reading 7-5 in a thrilling League Cup fourth-round tie.

A shocking start saw the Gunners concede four times in the opening 37 minutes, but a remarkable second-half comeback, which included a last-gasp equaliser from Theo Walcott, took the game to extra-time.

Marouane Chamakh and Pavel Pogrebnyak swapped goals as penalties loomed but then Arsenal struck twice more to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

It was an incredible day for the Gunnersโ€™ fans and players alike, especially lifelong Arsenal supporter Carl Jenkinson, who thought he had scored his first goal for the club only for it to be awarded to Theo Walcott after the match.

Listen to the Arsenal Weekly podcast for Carl's memories of his first Arsenal goal that never was.
