on the confidence coming back…
Obviously the result at the weekend could do no harm to that. The confidence has always been there in the team and sometimes you can’t put your finger on why things don’t go well, but you have to stick together in those periods and results like the weekend always help. We need to take that momentum into the weekend now.

on how important Saturday’s win was for morale…
It’s very important. In a lot of the performances so far this season we’ve shown that we can create a lot and maybe we haven’t scored enough goals. It’s always crucial to start putting them away and there are crucial players in our team like Theo and Alexis who have got off the mark, and that’s really important for them and for the team. Theo played fantastically well up front and scored a good goal. It’s good for their confidence and as a whole that will help our team. The whole team played well as well, from the back to the front. It does stand you in good stead, results like that where you score that many goals can only help the team. We need to build on that now and we look to do that tomorrow night.

on whether Arsenal have the attacking options to worry opposition…
I think so, yeah. We’ve got a lot of quality up front. The likes of Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky are still to come back so that shows that the team and the squad is very strong. You expect that at a club like Arsenal, so we need to put that into good use, not just the boys that play but the people on the bench at times. They need to come on, play well and then when they get opportunities to play it’s important that they play their roles as well.

on whether Ox needs to have more self-belief…
It’s what my dad says as well [as Wenger] so there might be a little bit of a trend here. I’m quite critical of myself and I try to demand quite high standards of myself. Sometimes maybe that can work in a negative fashion. That’s something that I need to work on. Self-belief is obviously a massive part of the game. I might need to start showing that I believe in myself a bit more around [the boss].

on whether he thought Wenger’s comments rang true…
I did see them and I chuckled because my dad says that to me a lot. It’s a valid point and we’ve just been talking about Alexis there, and that’s someone who has massive self-belief and he shows that every week. Quite often that results in positive performance with good end products and good results. It’s definitely something for me to take on board and look to improve on.

on the difference between the Champions League and Premier League…
Every time I go into a game for Arsenal I want to win and that does not change if it is the league or the cup. In that respect it is not different. We analyse every team we play against so we have a pretty good idea what we are up against. At Arsenal we try to focus on our game and we try to bring out all the traits we want to bring out and as long as we do that we hope we can win the game. I don’t feel the approach is any different going into the games, obviously the further you progress in a competition like the Champions League you feel the pressure might increase and you feel different in that respect, but I don’t feel different.
