Danielle Carter scored a hat-trick on her England debut as the Lionesses thrashed Estonia 8-0 in their Euro 2017 qualifier. It did not take the Arsenal forward long to register her first senior international goal as she opened the scoring two minutes into the game. Jo Potter and Fran Kirby were both on target as the visitors made it three before the break. Jill Scott and another debutant, Isobel Christiansen, got the fourth and fifth goals before Kirby claimed her second of the night. Carter bagged two late goals to complete her dream debut. Casey Stoney also featured as a late substitute.

Emma Byrne captained her country as Ireland were beaten 2-0 by Finland in their Euro 2017 qualifier. The goalkeeper was beaten in the 13th minute by Emma Koivisto and again by Linda Sallstrom in the second half as the visitors claimed all three points.

Natalia, Vicky Losada and Marta Corredera all started Spain’s 3-1 friendly win against China. Ruth Garcia put the visitors ahead but they were pegged back moments before half-time when Yang Li equalised. Amanda Sampedro’s deflected strike restored Spain’s lead before Silvia Meseguer put the game beyond doubt 12 minutes from time.

China 1-2 Spain
Natalia came off the bench in the 70th minute to score a late winner for Spain in their 2-1 friendly win against China. The hosts took an early lead thanks to Xu Yanlu’s strike. Spain found an equaliser just before the break when Amanda Sampedro scored. Natalia’s winning header in the closing minutes of the game secured a hard-fought victory for the visitors. Vicky Losada also featured as a 46th-minute substitute.

Thursday, September 17
Netherlands 8-0 Belarus
Sari Van Veenendaal and Dominique Janssen both started as the Netherlands defeated Belarus 8-0 in a friendly. Lieke Martens opened the scoring before the visitors scored an own goal. Danielle Van De Donk and Vivianne Miedema both found the net as Sherida Spitse then bagged the hosts' fifth goal. Miedema, Spitse and Martens all registered their second goals of the night to complete the scoring.
