Nobbs - We shouldn't feel disheartened

Jordan Nobbs

Jordan Nobbs says that Arsenal need to remain positive despite Sunday's defeat to Chelsea.

The Gunners had the opportunity to leapfrog Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, but their 2-0 loss leaves them five points adrift of their London rivals at the top of the table.

However, Arsenal still have three games left to play and Nobbs is confident that there are more twists and turns to come in this season’s title race.

"Every game counts and every team is taking points off of each other so we cant be disheartened"

“It’s disappointing,” the England midfielder told Arsenal.com. “The league is so close at the moment that those points are very big points but still every game counts and every team is taking points off of each other so we cant be disheartened.

“We need to improve on things that went wrong. Conceding from a set-piece early on in the game is a bit disappointing from us, so we need to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

Sunday’s game was Nobbs’ first since sustaining an injury at the World Cup, and the 22-year-old was delighted to be back on the pitch.

“It’s amazing to return,” she said. “I have not had the new Arsenal shirt on yet so seeing it up in the changing room and putting it on it’s a great feeling.

“I still need my minutes and it’s always hard to get into the game sometimes, but I felt fresh and ready to go. Hopefully in my next game I can get more minutes under my belt and next time a goal will go in.”
