Allen - We knew we could turn it around

Georgia Allen always kept faith that Arsenal Ladies could turn around a half-time deficit against London Bees.

Carla Humphrey’s strike and a Natalia Pablos Sanchon brace gave the Gunners a 3-1 win away from home in the Continental Cup.

Allen made her full debut for the Ladies on Wednesday night and said the break gave Arsenal time to regroup.

"We had complete belief that we could go out and put on a good performance, a better performance, and win the game"

“We came in at half-time and realised the situation of the game, 1-0 down," said Allen.

"We are a young squad but also we know we are talented. Some of us have been at Arsenal since we were really young, we know how Arsenal play, we know how we want to play and we had complete belief that we could go out and put on a good performance, a better performance, and win the game.

“The first half was definitely… not a shock but a kick-start to bring us up to the level of first-team football. It was obviously very hard work, very physical but I think as we got into the game we had the experience of Casey Stoney, who is always a voice in the game.

“It takes a lot to step out and take the pressure of the game," added Allen. "For 16 to 17-year-olds that does take a lot of mental toughness, physical toughness and to not be afraid.

“There’s more to come, I want more to come.”
