Yaya Sanogo to join Ajax on loan

Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo

Yaya Sanogo will join Dutch club Ajax on loan for the 2015/16 campaign.

The move follows a productive loan spell with Crystal Palace during the second half of last season.

The 22-year-old striker made 10 league appearances for the Eagles, helping them to 10th place in the table.

Sanogo, who joined Arsenal from Auxerre in July 2013, has made a total of 20 appearances for the Gunners, scoring once.

A France Under-21 international, he scored three times in four games for Les Bleus during their qualifying campaign for this summer’s Under-21 European Championship. He was also a key member of France’s victorious Fifa Under-20 World Cup-winning side in 2013, finishing the tournament as his side’s top scorer.

Sanogo heads to Ajax to gain further first team experience under manager Frank de Boer and assistant manager and Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Yaya the best of luck for his time in Holland.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
