Santi - The plaudits motivate me

Santi Cazorla says that compliments from Arsène Wenger and his team-mates have motivated him to maintain his fine form.

The playmaker has excelled recently and won both the club’s and the PFA Fans’ player of the month awards in December and January.

Cazorla is enjoying his football and wants the team to atone for Wednesday’s Champions League defeat against Monaco when they face Everton on Sunday.

“The good thing about football is that we always have the chance for revenge really quickly, he said. “I think we deserved the criticism for what happened with Monaco but we have the opportunity to take revenge against Everton.

“It’s going to be a tough game but it’s a good opportunity to change the dynamics a little bit and obviously focus on the table. It’s a very important game because we are fighting for Champions League [football].

“I am very thankful for the plaudits and for the compliments especially for those that come from people at the club, from Arsenal. It’s a good way of motivating me obviously.

“My goal is to keep on enjoying my football, keep my level up as much as I can and hopefully with my help we will manage to achieve the targets we have got this season.”
