Welbeck - FA Cup is gap on my CV

Danny Welbeck has set his sights on emulating his Arsenal team-mates by lifting the FA Cup at Wembley.

The England forward has already won the Premier League but admits it would be great to add an FA Cup winners’ medal to his CV.

"Growing up as a kid we always knew the FA Cup was such a historic competition and it’s up to us to keep that going. It will live on forever"

“It’s a special trophy to win and I’ve not had the joy of winning it,” the forward told Arsenal Player. “It’s something that I really want to do. It’s great to have that on your CV and you just want to keep on winning because once you get into the habit, it’s good to keep going.

“It’s always meant a lot. Growing up as a kid we always knew the FA Cup was such a historic competition and it’s up to us to keep that going. I’m sure it will and it will live on forever.”

Arsenal host Middlesbrough in the fifth round on Sunday and Welbeck is confident the Gunners have enough quality to keep their hopes of retaining the FA Cup alive.

“Middlesbrough have got nothing to lose but they also know that they’re going to be up against a good side,” he added. “I’m sure that once we’re going into the game, we’ll be prepared very well. We’ll know about their team, they’ll know a lot about us as well so it should be a good occasion.

“We’d like to play our game but obviously every single team’s got their strengths and weaknesses so we’ll be looking into that. We’ll analyse their team and know where we can maybe make the difference on the day.”
