Arsene Wenger has given his reaction to the attack on the Paris office of magazine Charlie Hebdo, which left 12 people dead.

"It’s a dreadful and terrible situation," he said. "It’s shocking - I think the whole country is shocked.

"France is a country with freedom of speech. It has a big history and to think that in a country like France you can die today for your ideas and the way you want to speak is absolutely shocking, and I think the whole country is under shock.

"At the moment the whole country is united and I hope it will not create a divided country. [I hope] the consequence of that will not be terrible for the country."
