Loan Watch: Five Gunners in action

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2014/15 campaign now underway, nine Gunners are currently away from the club.

Carl Jenkinson played the full 90 minutes of West Ham’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland. Jordi Gomez opened the scoring from the spot but Stewart Downing equalised to earn the Hammers a point on Wearside.

Jon Toral was an unused substitute in Brentford’s 3-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers. Jonathan Douglas put the hosts in front before Rudy Gestede equalised on the stroke of half-time. Andre Gray then restored the lead before Jota Peleteiro secured the three points on the hour mark.

Jack Jebb played the final 20 minutes of Stevenage’s 2-0 defeat at Newport. Aaron O’Connor and Darren Jones scored before half-time. O’Connor was then sent off in the 90th minute but Newport held on with 10 men for the win.

Wellington was a 67th-minute substitute in Almeria’s 4-1 loss against Real Madrid. Isco put Madrid in front but Verza equalised five minutes later. Gareth Bale then restored the visitors’ lead before Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in the final 10 minutes to maintain Madrid’s four-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Ryo Miyaichi marked his birthday by playing the final seven minutes of Twente’s 2-0 defeat at PSV. Luuk de Jong gave Eindhoven the lead before Georginio Wijnaldum struck to extend Twente’s winless streak to three games.

Austin Lipman was an unused substitute in Boreham Wood’s 3-0 victory over Staines Town. Matt Winchelow struck inside two minutes and Junior Morias gave Wood a two-goal cushion going into the break. Lee Angol then scored in the final minute to maintain his side’s six-point lead at the top of the Conference South.
