Aaron Ramsey says the Arsenal team were determined to deliver a performance for the manager and the fans in Tuesday night’s 4-1 win at Galatasaray.

The Wales international scored twice - including a spectacular long-range strike - as the Gunners cruised to victory in their final Group D fixture.

It came on the back of a frustrating result on Saturday, and Ramsey says the squad knew they had to give a big response.

"Every player here wants to work hard for [the manager], we proved that again on Tuesday night"

“It was obviously a disappointing first half [at Stoke], but we did well in the second half and almost got back into it,” he said. “It was important to bounce back from that defeat and we did that.

“Every player here wants to work hard for [the manager], we proved that again on Tuesday night. He has been under some unfair criticism, but we are all out there, we are in it together. We wanted to get the result for us and for him.

“I think whenever we go into a game, he knows our qualities, always believes in us and gives us a great feeling for matches. Every time we go out there we are representing ourselves, our club and our manager.”

Ramsey now has five goals in three games against Turkish teams in Istanbul, and says his second goal on Tuesday night was the best of his career.

“I have seen it back, and it is definitely the best I have scored,” the midfielder said. “As soon as I hit it, I thought it had a chance of going in and thankfully it went into the top corner.

“I like playing in Istanbul - I have scored a few goals here now and I would like to play here every week if I could!”
