Arsenal legends on canvas

Original artwork by Arsenal legends Dennis Bergkamp, Lee Dixon and Bob Wilson will sit alongside pieces from a host of celebrities and sports stars plus the Gruffalo and Bagpuss painted by their creators in the Stars on Canvas online auction this month.

This is your chance to own a unique piece of artwork by your favourite artist, illustrator, singer or actor and would make the perfect gift for a loved one this Christmas, with bids starting at just 99p.

Each and every canvas will be sold in aid of The Arsenal Foundation’s charity partner Willow, the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

Willow funds and organises up to 1,000 Special Days every year for those living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy and organ failure. Every day aims to provide quality of life to them and their families at the most difficult of times.

The one-off canvases featured in Stars on Canvas 2014 have been created by more than 250 stars of TV and film, sports personalities and musicians, as well as respected artists, illustrators and cartoonists.

Others to have taken part include singers Annie Lennox, Kylie Minogue, Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, cartoon characters Dennis the Menace, The Clangers, F1 legend Damon Hill, footballer Steven Gerrard, managers Roy Hodgson & Jose Mourinho.

The result is a vibrant and colourful collection which can be viewed at starsoncanvas.org.uk. In addition, an exhibition of all artworks will be open to the public from November 20 to 23 at The Hub, 10 Heddon Street, London, W1B 4BX.

Bob Wilson, Arsenal legend and Willow Foundation co-founder and Life President, said: “This much anticipated Willow fundraiser takes more than a year to collate. Together our artists, illustrators, actors, singers and photographers create the most fantastic collection of original artworks and we are extremely grateful for every contribution. By choosing to support Willow they are helping to fulfil many more Special Days for young adults living with serious illness.”

Willow is working in partnership with Brighton based artist, Julieanne Gilburt, and The Crown Estate, owners of The Hub, who invest in and manage some of the UK’s most important assets.
