'Alexis' desire makes him dangerous'

Arsene Wenger has hailed Alexis Sanchez’s technical ability - but he says it is the Chilean’s desire that makes him so dangerous.

Alexis scored twice against Burnley to register his second brace in a week and his ninth and 10th goals since joining in the summer.

While his second against the Clarets was a familiar sight to Arsenal fans, his opener - a flying header inside the box - was a surprise to many inside Emirates Stadium, including his manager.

"It also shows that, even if you’re not tall and you want to score, you can find room for heading"

Arsene Wenger

“I’m not bothered about answering questions on Alexis because the guy deserves to be talked about,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“Through the quality of his performances you’re happy to talk about him because he shows attitude and quality. He’s a fighter and it’s what people want to see on the football pitch.

“I’m very happy. [Alexis and Danny Welbeck] work well together. At the moment I’m playing Alexis through the middle because we can use his runs and he’s dangerous.

“It also shows that, even if you’re not tall and you want to score, you can find room for heading. At 0-0 he went up there and scored a great header because it’s more about desire [than technical ability in the air].”
