Extra: Wenger on Szczesny and Podolski

Arsène Wenger faced the media ahead of the Chelsea game. Here are some extra quotes from his press conference. For more headlines, visit our Digest page.

on Szczesny's red card…

I've spoken to him and he conceded that he made the penalty. You have to accept that. Football is made about when you touch the ball 50 times, you have to make 50 decisions. Out of these 50 times, you can sometimes in a fraction of a second make a wrong decision.

on Podolski…

It is quite simple - there is no transfer market at the moment. When there is no transfer market, you are all on board or not on board. It is like that. This is a job where you can only be successful if you're fully committed. You cannot be half in and half out, so all this transfer speculation is not considered at all. We are all on board to have a result on Sunday and Podolski will be part of that.

on Welbeck’s hat-trick…

Danny’s 23 years old. The fact that he plays regularly in the Premier League now, in his position, means he’s improving game-by-game. He’s adding to his game and that’s very positive. There’s a lot more to come from him especially because he has the basics. He has a good technique, he has good pace and a good mentality, so I believe that Diego Costa is a good example for him to follow.
