Koscielny starts as France reach last 16

Laurent Koscielny completed 90 minutes while Olivier Giroud played the final quarter as France sealed their place in the last 16 of the World Cup with a goalless draw against 10-man Ecuador.

Manchester United's Antonio Valencia was sent off in the 49th minute for a reckless challenge on Lucas Digne but a much-changed France side couldn't capitalise on their numerical advantage.

Paul Pogba missed Les Bleus' best chance of the game on 74 minutes when he was found in space inside the Ecuador box but could only nod across the face of goal and wide.

Hugo Lloris was forced into a smart save late on to deny Rebato Ibarra as Ecuador pushed for a win that would take them through.

In the end, a point was enough secure top spot for France in Group E and set up a clash with Nigeria in the first round of the knockout stages.
