Joining the Gunners at Emirates Stadium for this summer’s pre-season tournament will be three of Europe’s leading clubs - Portuguese champions Benfica, La Liga side Valencia and French club AS Monaco.

This will be the seventh staging of the Emirates Cup, which has been a regular in the club’s pre-season schedule since moving to Emirates Stadium. As with previous  tournaments, fans will enjoy two matches on both Saturday and Sunday, with one ticket giving access to both matches on a particular day. Full ticket information will be announced on Tuesday, May 6.

The tournament kicks-off at 2pm on Saturday, August 2 with Spanish side Valencia taking on Ligue 1 club AS Monaco. Arsenal then face Benfica at 4.20pm.

On Sunday, August 3, Benfica play Valencia at 2pm, before the Gunners bring the tournament to a close against Arsène Wenger’s former club AS Monaco, in a game which kicks off at 4.20pm.

Teams will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a draw. The competition also rewards attacking play, with teams earning one point for each goal they score. In addition, shots on target will be taken into account and will be used to decide the tournament winners if teams are level on points and goal difference, with the winning team being presented with the Emirates Cup trophy after the second match on Sunday, August 3.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “We’re delighted to once again be hosting the Emirates Cup in August. This will be the seventh staging of the Emirates Cup and it has proved to be an overwhelming success and a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of football.

“Not only does the tournament offer supporters the first chance to see the team play at Emirates Stadium before the start of the new season, it will of course also provide a very competitive level of preparation for all the teams ahead of the 2014/2015 season.

“Emirates has been the proud sponsor of the Emirates Cup since the inaugural tournament in 2007 and we’re obviously delighted that Emirates are continuing their long-standing commitment to Arsenal Football Club through their support of this prestigious pre-season tournament.”

"The competition has always been a great way for the Arsenal team to prepare for the start of the new season and also for the fans to enjoy two days of high quality pre-season football at Emirates Stadium"
