Kallstrom - Cup win was a turning point

Kim Kallstrom believes the positive vibes from Arsenal's FA Cup semi-final victory can propel the club into next season's Champions League.

The Gunners were nine minutes away from a numbing Wembley defeat on April 12 when Per Mertesacker equalised against Wigan Athletic. Arsenal went through on penalties and followed that up with Premier League wins over West Ham United and Hull City.

Kallstrom came off the bench at Wembley to score in the shoot-out and he thinks that tense triumph was a turning point.

"Football is all about in the head, more in the head than in the legs I think"

"We had a couple of negative results during a couple of weeks and some games we were playing alright but didn't get the result," he told Arsenal Player.

"The semi-final of the FA Cup turned everything around because you win a difficult game where we were struggling, in the end you get a positive result for everybody, the fans, the players. It gives you a confidence boost that is really good.

"Two days later you go out and you beat West Ham. The day after Everton lost [to Crystal Palace] and that game was a bit of a surprise. Then you're back on track in just three days. Then you go to Hull, you are more comfortable because you know you're in a good position again and everything works out.

"Football is all about in the head, more in the head than in the legs I think. It was a good week for us, that was the improvement, mentally we were a bit more relaxed."
