Loan Watch: Afobe scores in home defeat

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2013/14 campaign now underway, 12 Gunners are currently away from the club.

Benik Afobe started and netted a consolation but could not prevent Sheffield Wednesday from suffering a heavy home defeat at Hillsborough. Watford went 4-0 ahead with Troy Deeney scoring twice before Afobe nodded home. Damian Martinez was an unused substitute and Ju Young Park did not feature for the visitors.

Johan Djourou played the entirety of Hamburg's loss at Monchengladbach - a result which leaves them in the Bundesliga relegation zone. Jacques Zoua actually gave the visitors the lead before the half-hour mark but Filip Daems quickly equalised. Raffael and Alvaro Dominguez struck after the break to ensure the hosts' victory.
