Ramsey - I've got plenty more to offer

Aaron Ramsey is determined to take his game to a new level after committing his future to Arsenal.

The Wales midfielder has signed a new contract at Emirates Stadium towards the end of a campaign he considers to be the best of his career.

Ramsey has 13 goals this term, an impressive haul given he has been sidelined since Boxing Day. Now the 23-year-old wants to get fit and scale new heights.

"I feel like there's plenty more to come," Ramsey told Arsenal Player. "This season I've proven a lot of people wrong.

"There was a tough time in the period after my injury but I've got through that and I feel really confident and feel like I'm improving with every game.

"Hopefully now I can get back out onto that pitch as quickly as possible and show what I'm capable of doing and hopefully finish off the season in some style as well.

"I think this has been my best season," Ramsey went on. "The number of goals I've scored early on up until Christmas time, I think that was quite good for a midfielder to do and that's been one of the biggest improvements.

"I've been a lot more composed in front of goal and taking my chances. I've been more consistent week-in, week-out so I would say it's been my best season so far.

"I think [to get to the next level] I need to go into the big games and to really show my authority on those games. Grab the game by the scruff of the neck and show everybody you can do it in the big games on a consistent basis. I think that will be the next step."

Ramsey was one of the hottest young talents in British football when he moved to Arsenal a little under six years ago. The Wales midfielder had plenty of options - and he's convinced he made the right choice.

"I had a few tough decisions at that time," recalled Ramsey. "I was travelling to a few different clubs at the time.

"When I knew Cardiff were going to sell me, the manager [Arsene Wenger] was doing the Euros at the time so he flew me and my family out and my agent to Switzerland to meet him in person and to have a conversation.

"We had a meal as well together so it was just to show how much he wanted me and what he believed he could help me turn into. That really won it for me and I feel like I've made the right decision in coming here.

"Arsenal have brought through so many great young players and turned them into world-class players. He [Wenger] gives youngsters opportunities and if he feels that you're good enough he'll play you so those factors were massive for me. I just felt really wanted by this club."
