Extra: Wenger on Bayern and Ozil

Arsene Wenger faced the media on Friday ahead of the Tottenham game. Here are some extra quotes from his press conference. For more headlines, visit our Digest page.

on the Bayern game…
I'm disappointed that we went out but mentally we were at the level of the game in both games. That was not the case last year, we missed our first game. This year I felt that we were at the level in both games. At the end of the day, as I told you after the game, we have the regret for having played with 10 men at home. We played 1-1 away, on the night I must say we didn't create enough chances to win with two goals difference but we played against a good side that is top in Europe at the moment. I still feel we needed everything to go for us in the two games to go through.

on coping without Ozil…
It is of course a blow but I am confident we have the quality without him during that period. We have many creative players in our squad who can take over and produce quality performances. I am convinced that the team is ready, even without Ozil, to go for the challenge.

on whether the rest will do Ozil good…
He had a very good game against Everton on Saturday and I feel he was handicapped from early on in the [Bayern] game by this hamstring because I saw him stretching a few times.
