The game was barely three minutes old when the England international brought down Kanu's lofted through-ball with ease, turned his marker inside-out, before firing into the top corner.
Fellow full-back Lauren added a second soon afterwards and
Sylvain Wiltord made it 3-0 after just 24 minutes.
Scott Dobie pulled one back just after the break for the
Baggies but further goals from Wiltord and Jeremie
Aliadiere settled the encounter in Arsenal's favour
despite Jason Roberts' 87th-minute goal for the visitors.
