Arsène Wenger says the challenge now facing his Arsenal squad is to prove that the decisions taken this summer were the right ones.

The Club have signed Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla, while Robin van Persie and Alex Song have both departed.

Wenger still hopes to make new additions before the close of the transfer window, but maintains that his team is in a strong position to fight for honours.

“We have one quality at this club: we are brave,” he said. “It is not because you push us to do something that we do it. Secondly, we sit down and anticipate the problems we face.

“What happened to us this summer was all anticipated. Will it be successful? That is what we have to show now.

“We took the decisions, now we have to show they are the right ones. That is what is at stake.

“We are in strong situation when the rest of Europe is in a weak situation [financially]. Instead of being respected for that [people say] ‘what are they doing?’”

Wenger insists that Arsenal remains a highly-desirable prospect for players around the world, and says there is never a problem in attracting talent to the Club.

“We have more problems saying no than getting a yes,” he said. “You would be surprised at the people who want to join us. Why? Because we are at the top of the European game.”
