Arsenal’s triumph at West Ham United in October was one of the team’s best away performances of the season, according to Arsène Wenger.

Goals from Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla fired Wenger’s side to victory in east London, after Mohamed Diame had given the hosts a first-half lead.

Wenger was happy with that display, but insists his team will not underestimate the danger posed by Sam Allardyce’s side on Wednesday night.

“It was one of our better performances,” he recalled.

“We had some good games away from home, I believe, even on Sunday [at Chelsea] you cannot say we had a bad game, but we missed the start of the game. I think we had one really really bad game against Manchester United. Apart from that we have been quite good away from home.

“It’s difficult for everybody. Every team has its period where it goes well and where it goes a little bit less well.

“They [West Ham] are a team that is dangerous and can create danger. After they lost Andy Carroll [to injury], of course it was a bit damaging for them. That could be one of the explanations [why their form has dipped].”
