Arsène Wenger has admitted the draw against West Ham was a “major missed opportunity” for his side.
The Gunners looked to be cruising to victory at Upton Park on Sunday until Carlton Cole’s header and Alessandro Diamanti’s penalty saw the hosts steal a point in the last 16 minutes.
After the match Wenger expressed his disappointment at the result and warned his team that repeats of the West Ham comeback could cost Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
“It is a major missed opportunity of course," said the Frenchman.
"In our job you have no luxury to miss opportunities. It is our job to get points when you deserve them and sometimes to get points when you don't deserve them.
"Today we didn't get the points when we deserved them and that means we have not made the maximum of what we should have done.
"We have a great chance [in the Premier League] this year but you cannot repeat this kind of performance and not come out with the three points."Copyright 2014 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
