'We want to deliver something special'

By Nick Teale

Arsène Wenger wants Arsenal fans to experience 'something special' at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman has set his sights on beating Barcelona, and wants to do it without resorting to "ugly" football.

The Gunners are renowned for their brand of attacking football and Wenger won't be instructing his side to play any other way against the European champions.

"The best way is to first win the game," he said. "Is the ugly way the best way to win? That is where you have to convince me.

"I believe the most efficient way is to play good football and not to kick the ball in the stand, because there is no goal there, the goal is on the pitch.

"We will try to play the way we are used to - you cannot change that from one match to the next, but we do want to be efficient with our game.

"We have to enjoy it and be excited about it. I am confident that we can respond to the expectation of all people who love football but also our fans because they want us to do something special and we want to deliver that.

"They are an individual and collective threat but so are we.

"That makes the game tomorrow interesting. I am very happy because I love football and above all, I love Arsenal. And for Arsenal to have this opportunity to do it tomorrow against Barcelona is fantastic.“
