'We put in an excellent performance'

Terry Burton spoke to Arsenal.com after the NextGen Series victory against CSKA Moscow. Here is a transcript of the interview:

on securing a semi-final place…
I am delighted for the players because I thought they put in an excellent performance, and also delighted for the Club and supporters who turned out on a very cold night. I am sure they will have enjoyed the game.

on the biggest positives…
The most pleasing aspect was that it is a big stage to be playing at the Emirates - most of the team were playing here for the first time - and you're not sure how they will react, but I thought they responded really well. That is pleasing because this is where they want to be playing week in, week out and they had to play the game rather than the occasion, and I thought they did that really well.

on the maturity of the side…
We got in three or four times in the first half, and Serge had a great opportunity with the header, and then we had a few half-decent chances and if our final ball had been a bit better we may have got in. We were in control of the game but we were a bit worried about the counter-attack from Moscow if they sucked us in and hit us on the break, so the defenders had to concentrate and they did.

on Gnabry's goal…
It was a real moment of class, he manufactured the position well and was very positive in his movement - it was a great finish.

on facing Chelsea in the semi-finals…
It was about getting through this game, and getting into the semi-finals, which we have achieved. Now we have another game against a top-quality side in Chelsea, who surprisingly we haven't met at under-18 or under-21 level this year.
