Arsenal’s Champions League Play-Off victory over Udinese has taken a lot out of the Arsenal squad, according to Arsène Wenger.
The Gunners sealed a spot in the Group Stage for a 14th consecutive year with victory against the Serie A side but their manager believes his players have paid a price for it.
Wenger and his side welcome Bolton Wanderers to Emirates Stadium on Saturday and the Frenchman says his squad must work hard to get their season back on track.
“What is important for us is to give absolutely everything to do it,” he said. “If the team gets momentum, we can be very strong.
“I still believe we paid a very heavy price for the Udinese game, where we didn’t get any credit at all. Today, they are top of the league.
“We had to give absolutely everything at Dortmund and in the second half at Blackburn you could see that. Our start of the season was disturbed by the transfers and by the fact that we had to qualify for the Champions League. We lost a lot of energy in these games.”Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
