Arsène Wenger believes his squad deserve credit for fighting so hard on four fronts this season.

The first chance of a trophy slipped through Arsenal's fingers last week when Birmingham beat them at the Carling Cup Final. But Wenger's side are still well in contention in the Premier League and have a slender advantage at the halfway stage of their Champions League tie with Barcelona.

The second leg of that clash takes place at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, followed closely by a trip to Old Trafford for an FA Cup tie with Manchester United. It's a pivotal week in Arsenal's season and, at the start of it, Wenger was quick to praise his players.

"I believe the side is remarkably consistent and you have to give us some credit," he said.

"We have shown that we wanted to fight on four fronts, so we have played game after game for two and a half months. We have shown the same resilient attitude every time.

"Of course, as soon as we have a disappointment, everybody gets on your back. Sometimes you are the victim of your hunger as well because we want to do well in every competition.

"Let’s be realistic as well, we only lost the Carling Cup in the last minutes on a mistake that happens once every 50 years. Overall, the team is doing extremely well."
