Laurent Koscielny does not want his Arsenal team to be the first in 15 years to miss out on the Champions League.

Arsène Wenger’s side have third place in their own hands despite a 3-3 draw against Norwich at Emirates Stadium last weekend after both Tottenham and Newcastle dropped points.

Arsenal travel to West Brom on Sunday knowing that three points will guarantee their place in next season’s competition and Koscielny knows just how crucial that is.

“We know it is very important to qualify for the Champions league,” the Frenchman told Arsenal Player. “It is the best competition in Europe, and I want to play in it.

“Since Arsène Wenger was here, Arsenal have [almost] always qualified for the Champions League, so I don't want this to be the first team not to qualify.

“Every player wants to be in third place; it is very important for the squad, the Club, for everything. We must do it on the pitch to make sure we are in third place after Sunday's game.”
