The Club’s backing for its Ladies team shows that Arsenal are not against women in football, according to Arsène Wenger.

The issue of sexism within the game has dominated both front and back pages this week following remarks made by Sky presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray about a female official at Wolves.

Both men have since left their posts and Wenger was asked for his views when he faced the press on Friday. He pointed out that Arsenal are standard-bearers for women in football - the Ladies have won 33 major trophies in just 19 years.

“In fairness I didn't follow that story very well [but] nobody [here] is against women in football,” he said.

“We have one of the most successful women’s football teams. We've always encouraged that and I don’t see any problem with it.

“The game is changing every day. That's life, life moves always forward and on the good side that is no problem.”
