On another FA Youth Cup comeback…
"I have to tell you after our first-half performance I didn’t think we were going to be anywhere near the game. We were very poor but we changed the system a little bit and Wilshere started getting on the ball and he looked dangerous.

“They don’t panic and they have got a bit of arrogance about them. They have got great character, belief and they have been playing together for seven years and they are used to winning football games. It’s a good habit to get into.”

On the second-half turnaround…
“We put Jack Wilshere just behind the front two and moved Sanchez Watt up one into a diamond shape - It helped us. We passed the ball better and found some little pockets of space high up the pitch. We were a bit deep first half and it was all a little bit pedestrian. We need a bit more urgency and we did that. They backed off us and they made it difficult for us. I thought their front two were very dangerous in the first half. Overall we are more than pleased now.”

Inflicting Man City’s first defeat of the season…
“We’ve got plenty of quality on the pitch. I think all round we have got dangerous players, especially going forward. Defensively sometimes we’re not fantastic but we are working at it. I think the change of shape in the second half helped us defensively as well.”

On his side’s slender advantage…
“It will be a tough second leg at Emirates and I just hope our kids don’t get too carried away thinking the game is won because it’s far from over. That will be the difficult part with this group. We’re looking forward to the Emirates because the pitch here was a little bobbly. The Emirates will certainly suit us with the ball on the floor a lot more and I’m hoping we can up the pace a little touch.”

On the flat Eastlands crowd…

“Let’s hope City are not used to such a big crowd and let’s hope we get a big crowd down there. The lads are all looking forward to playing in front of big numbers because they want to show everybody how good they are. It will be great if everyone turns up and shows their support.”
