There remains a “slight chance” that Manuel Almunia could leave Arsenal during the transfer window.

The Spanish goalkeeper has not played since the 3-2 home defeat to West Brom in September and is currently nursing an ankle injury.

A fortnight ago Arsène Wenger admitted that Almunia might not see out the month at Emirates Stadium and that remains the case.

“Almunia is on standby, that means he is here,” said Wenger at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“We keep always that very quiet [about whether there have been offers]. There is a slight chance he could go but as I told you it is standby.”
