Arsenal travel to Partizan Belgrade tonight for their first away fixture in Group H.
After an impressive 6-0 win over Braga in their opening game, Arsène Wenger's side will be looking to make it two wins from two in the Serbian capital tonight.
But what do you know about Aleksandar Stanojević's side? We spoke to Milan Vukovic of Radio Television Serbia to get a Serbian perspective on Tuesday's clash.
Partizan are definitely the most powerful team in Serbia, they have been champions three years in a row. They have changed their team a lot from last season and they also have a very young coach. They weren’t expected to get to the Champions League but now they are here they are very prepared for the games ahead.
THE MAN IN CHARGE
Aleksandar Stanojević is the youngest coach in Partizan history. He is a very tough, hard-working guy and is very ambitious. Along with the Partizan president he has created a very good team with a lot of players with the same qualities that he has. He got his chance and until the loss against Shakhtar in the opening game he hadn’t lost a match. His players have a lot of respect for him and he is a man who knows exactly what he wants. He is a man that is always thinking about football – this is a big chance for him and a big chance for the team.
The atmosphere is one of the best in Europe. The Partizan fans are brilliant, they are very loud. You will see tonight that the atmosphere is excellent. Partizan fans are really loud and are known as ‘the gravediggers’. They sing about the Partizan team and they have many scarves. They have 7,000 loyal fans who sit at the south of the stadium and sing for the whole 90 minutes no matter what the score is. They will sing and they will very much be with their team. Partizan’s realistic hope for this year is to finish third in the group. Arsenal is the most powerful team in our group so anything they get from the game will be a positive result. I think a draw is the best result Partizan can hope for tomorrow.
The best players Partizan have are Ilić Saša, Cleo and Krstajić Mladen. They are the backbone of the team.
IMPRESSIONS OF ARSENAL
This is the biggest game for Partizan since they played Real Madrid in 2003. They were in a strong group in 2003/04 in their only previous Champions League appearance. They lost three games away from home but here they drew three games. They played well, I was very young but Partizan came very close to beating Real Madrid, it was a very tough game. I hope tomorrow is the same. Partizan played well. Thy conceded a goal in the 70th minute but the game was good for our team because last year they also played against Shakhtar and lost 4-0 in Ukraine. This time it was a completely different game so the reaction was very good.
