Arsène Wenger hopes Ronaldinho signs for Blackburn Rovers, because he feels the Brazilian would be a great advert for the Premier League.

The former Champions League and World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a move to the Lancashire club whose new billionaire owners have reportedly offered £20 million and a three-year deal.

Ronaldinho’s previous clubs include European giants Barcelona and AC Milan, but Blackburn? Wenger is convinced the deal could happen and feels the English game would benefit from the playmaker’s presence.

“I hope personally it happens because it is even more an advert for the Premier League and makes it even more attractive,” said Wenger at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“That’s one of the charms of the English Premier League, that you can have Ronaldinho at Blackburn. That’s great.

“It shows that even the clubs who have a reputation of having a less attractive power for the big stars can do it as well. It would be great.”
