Arsène Wenger believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can learn his trade on the training pitch while he waits for first-team opportunities.

The 18-year-old summer signing from Southampton enjoyed a stunning start to his Arsenal career with goals in his first two starts against Shrewsbury Town and Olympiacos. But he has not featured since the last round of the Carling Cup when Bolton were beaten at Emirates Stadium.

Oxlade-Chamberlain recently told Arsenal Player that he improving all the time and Wenger believes that patience will be a virtue for the talented teenager.

"Overall, Alex has the quality and I can only show that I believe in that in buying him," Wenger told Arsenal Player.

"Secondly I can show that by playing him - but also by working with him on the training pitch. Alex is developing very well. He is very positive and he works very hard.”
